Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) has repudiated Democratic leadership claims that grassroots protests at healthcare town hall meetings are “manufactured.”  She has tweeted twice on the subject, praising ordinary citizens for exercising their rights:

 

Real grassroots on both sides of the healthcare issue, both sides organizing. Yay to both, yay for democracy,hope both are civil and polite.

 

I disagree that the people showing concern over some healthcare proposals are “manufactured” Real folks, strong opinions.

 

In contrast, here’s what the DNC has to say:

 

“This mob activity is straight from the playbook of high-level Republican political operatives,” the Democratic National Committee says in a new Web video. “They have no plan for moving our country forward, so they’ve called out the mob.”
