Things just keep getting worse for Democrats.  Yesterday afternoon, Rasmussen released a poll showing Republicans now favored to handle many top election issues, including the economy.

The GOP is preferred over Democrats on the economy by 46% to 41%, and amongst independents, the margin jumps to 46% to 32%.

Republicans lead on eight of the ten issues polled, including the economy, Iraq, national security, abortion, Social Security, and immigration.

Somehow, Republicans even lead (by 1%) on the issue of government ethics—a little confusing given recent news.

On the issue of taxes, Democrats are at a 16% deficit.  And on the only issues Democrats have an advantage, healthcare and education, the gap is closing.  In May, Democrats were 18 points ahead of Republicans on healthcare.  That is now down to 4 points as Democrats plan massive overhauls to the healthcare system.
